Dubois Naval Architects

The Designer

Ed DuboisThe choice of Dubois Naval Architects was logical. Firstly because Ed Dubois started designing winning yachts at about the same time as Oyster was founded, so both firms are long established. Coincidentally both Dubois and Oyster spent their early years creating winning racing yachts and this experience shines through, since both firms are still passionate about and committed to yachts with excellent sailing performance even though their primary role may be world cruising.

Dubois has established an international reputation as a leading designer of very large, fast, good looking cruising yachts. Their success is probably unparalleled since Dubois now has over 30 individual designs of over 30m (100 ft) in commission.

Through their myriad of designs, and working with a variety of builders worldwide, Dubois have accumulated a wealth of experience, which will undoubtedly benefit the Oyster project.

This experience not only includes basic design criteria but covers construction and the considerable technical detail required to complete today’s generation of superyachts with their comprehensive outfitting, on-going innovations and the requirement for MCA compliance.

While Dubois is the naval architect of record, Oyster’s own in-house design team are responsible for the general arrangement, design detailing and interior styling. Gary-Scott-Jenner, formerly engineering manager with High Modulus is responsible for structural engineering.
